HJ sandman ute restoration

Thanks, its been a longer project than anticipated but its now the exciting part of putting it all back together. I cant wait to turn the key!

Some more work done on the ute. Bottom and top control arms back on. Cleaned up front springs and painted them. Cleaned up stub axles and painted them. Im debating on original short steering arms oe the later model longer ones? Photo shows longer unpainted ones. Its great putting it back together!IMG_0754.jpg

Power steering has shorter arms. I think that very early on they may have used shorter arms in manual boxes too. If you use the long arms on power steering(I haven't swapped mine over on my we power steering conversion yet) you have a huge turning circle.

The handbrake and the pedal on the right can cut down your turning circle pretty dramatically.

Mine is an early 75 HJ and had the short arms with manual steering on a 20:1 box. I had the long arms from another car and also have a 16:1 box from a Monaro so will play around to get the best set up. Steering with the short arms was very heavy when trying to park.
