I think the customer could easily get a dealer to put different paint in the back. Not get the factory to paint to request though.

body now ready for final mandarin red colour.

My doors had some inner skin and frame rust so I sourced some excellent donor doors. Sanded back to bare metal

    more body panel prep work

Door hinges were stripped down, paint removed and old pins and bushes removed. Pressed in new bronze bushes and pressed in new pins, so ready to hang doors. The guards and nose cone will be tackled next. The nose cone is in great shape and the driver side guard has a bit of inner rust at the bottom where the guard bolts to the body. I should get some photos soon for those.

I am still working on the ute and the rad support and nose cone are looking good. I have a good passenger side guard which was the original guard but the drivers side guard has a weld in guard due to an earlier accident before I owned it. I need a driver's side gets guard, can anyone help me?

you're likely better off with a good clean guard that has a weld in than a rust repaired original. but I hear ya. one will turn up! looking good dude

Hi all, its been a long time since i last posted an update on my ute. I eventually found a great original right front guard and the care is now finally painted in original mandarin red and the ute is now home. This weekend was a milestone moment and finally starting to putting the toy back together. The 308 motor is rebuilt and is ready to go back in. I have bought a new edelbrock manifold because I just cant seem to find a good early one. I had my pine welded up around the water jackets but I just don't like how the welds look (you can tell its been repaired and the finish is different). The paint work is really good and although the car was at the painters so long, the outcome is great.IMG_0011.JPGIMG_0011.JPG
