Hi again all, it’s been some months again and more work has been done on the Ute. The engine bay is nearly complete apart from the air conditioner compressor and a bit more wiring connections.

Today the the car went off to the trim shop, Jim’s Trim in adelaide to get roof lining put back in. I have known Jim for 30 years and he was an apprentice motor trimmer at Holden Elizabeth and started in 1974. That means that I am getting the seats retrimmed and roof lining exactly as it was done from the factory in 1975. The slate black seats have come up looking great and he still had a roll of the original black ribbed roof lining material.

fast ratio steering was available as an option on manual steering, were shorter arms used for this or was it a different worm drive in the column.

The fast ratio manual steering option had the GTS 16:1 box which had a different worm.

I answered this more fully on Fastlane earlier this morning. Check it out there.

Unfortunately it looks like Fred never got to enjoy his fine work on this one and sold it last year, see add attached. Beautiful job, hopefully the new owner loves it
