    Chassis hasn't been modified.
I reckon they've cut and shut a wagon section right behind the left front door including the floor pan. Have a look at my photo at the beginning of the thread.
It's very well done. Has been lead wiped as well.
I'll get some photo's of the modification and post them up.

I was thinking that it wouldn't be possible to fit a floor back there, but thinking about it, the chassis doesn't kick up in height till near the rear wheel. Pretty clever to use the void. Easier on the earlier models that still retained the rear floor under the tray.

.....and even later models. VU-VZ Ute runs a wagon floor pan. Contemplated a wagon rear seat when I did the Van conversion on mine.

This came from Kangaroo Island SA. my Dad grew up over there and remembers when this Van arrived on the island cos it was in the local news paper. He managed to save it from the scrappers. Body is almost finished but the projects has been put on hold for a while. I always find it interesting to look at the hideous was they cut and modified them! and the way it has wagon style windows cut in to the side through the body lines... what where they thinking!!

    Razsandman,

    That’s a cool story!

I’m not sure if you are still around on the Forum but I though you might find it interesting to know that my father-in-law lived on KI and volunteered with the KI St John Ambulance Service while this HJ was in service (meaning he worked with this exact vehicle, as apparently, at the time there was only one ambulance on the island).
