Many inspectors don't have the knowledge of the intricate differences between all the variations of ADR27/A/B etc. on all the different engine & transmission combinations. Also a lot of the necessary documentation is no longer easily accessible.

As long as the cars looks good & runs well & isn't blowing smoke or leaking oil & the engine is from approximately the correct era, it will pass.

Yeah, that's pretty much where I was going with my comments.

I remember about 8 years ago I took my LX Torana for an inspection to a mates garage and was a bit worried he might not like the Holley, etc.
He didn't even bother looking at that, but was really concerned that the ignition key could be taken out of the switch with the ignition in the on position! I asked him what regulation that was covered by and he pointed at the compliance plate and said " That one.... ADR27a". I said to him that that was for emissions and he said "No.... that's for the ignition key"!

Whatever.....
