I am sure I've seen Super Mint with purple stripes before, I dunno if it was 'back in the day' or a recent rebuild but I am sure I have seen that combo and it looked good. For some reason it actually seems the natural option to my mind. Maybe there was one around at some stage in my earlier life. Perhaps Jason can find a pic of what that colour combo looked like, I recall it was pretty wild. This seems to me an important choice for sandman 78, the stripes make a considerable difference to the look of the car. Its a good question he has asked.
I suppose there is another considration, (just opening it up even further) if all the Super Mint vans restored got blue stripes from now on, but there were genuinely other factory options available, wouldn't that be a little boring? Originality from factory is obviously what most restorers would want, but there seems to me, little way of telling what that was from trim codes in terms of stripe colour, (or am I wrong)? But, if a Super Mint van was possibly purple stripes from factory, and that combo looks good to the restorer and they choose to use that colour scheme, well doesnt it mean that everyone who has Super Mint with blue stripes can happily know that their combo is not being repeated so much that it could become less unique? I recall the purple on Super Mint looked good. OK... and fire away!! (lol)
