Spoke to a bloke selling a Sandman, but replaced chassis after an accident. Everything bar GTS front guards are original. How much does that effect value?

It's like this Cam...........I've got a hammer that's been handed down through the family for 500 yrs. Thats right a 500 yr old hammer. It's only had 75 new handles and 35 new heads but it's 500 yrs old.!!! Looks as good as new.
Disclaimer: I am not an expert.
Thanks davegmh. Nice analogy... I think.
It is still a Sandman but expect a 40-50% value drop, so unless it is really cheap and not much needed to spend look elsewhere.
oh no, not this again....
where is the identity if you can replace the rails and still have a sandman?? ultimately it's the rails that identify the vehicle in WA ie if its a WB rail number with HJ everything else, it's still seen here as a WB. I'm not sure the greater majority would see this ute as a sandman if the body had been swapped... so if the identity is not in the rails (as most mentioned, it's still a sandman) and it's not in the body as the body has no ID numbers (generally)then it must be in the tags... but you need the body to help ID and reconfirm tags so really it's not a sandman unless it's all together in one original piece imo.

The legal identity is with the chassis numbers, and the vehicle's identity (as in what it left GMH as) is with the ID plates, specifically the BODY plate.
Regardless it isn't what it once was and as such would be devalued accordingly. It would be better to have a set of blank rails fitted and a Police issued chassis number.
I'd rather a complete original Kingswood like Nocturne's than a non-matching Sandman. But at the right price it is a still a good thing.
Thanks HK1387, thought as much. It's a HZ ute in good original, rust free cond but needs a paint and wants 20k... steep I think.
