Got a call this afternoon from a mate's daughter. He passed away a few days ago aged from memory 56 (or close to 56).
Just a few weeks ago he told me he'd had enough working and was pulling up stumps to retire and travel.
Makes you wonder sometimes.

Sure does. One of my work mates had his 52 yr old father pass away on Anzac Day, Had his funeral on the 5th May and 2 days later their shed burn't down with all his fathers tools, lathe, Hoist and heaps of spare parts for his race car. He was only back at work for an hour before the fire.

I know how you feel HK. My condolences mate. My best mate took his own life while on a business trip to London 2yrs ago. Never picked him to do that. We were like brothers only real friend I had. But life goes on, chin up.

Yep enjoy it while you can!!!
Hear hear.! Lost friends to suicide, terminal illness, accidental death and a senseless murder. Live life while it's there to live, and love family and friends while you can. Some times can be harder than others, but all in all, I'm just happy to be here.

Sandman...Just Drive It.!
Thanks guys. His demise was a heart attack. We speak regularly as I did the odd work for him on various mine sites and helped him out with the odd bit of technical knowledge or interpretation of Standards, and always shared the odd bit of banter. When the phone rang this arvo it was his number, and as I was driving for a change I luckily didn't open with some bit of rude innuendo - as it was his daughter calling on his phone to give me the news. RIP Pete.
Sad news indeed Byron no winners there
Life is way to short
Ta Flamingo......beers on me tomorrow.
