Tracing engine number

Can anyone decode or trace an engine number for me? QT 262823 last number could be an 8 not 3,would be interested to see I have a 308 as a spare and would like to find what it came from. cheers Mark

I can't tell you specifically what it came in, but it would have been a HQ (not statesman) about 1972, maybe early 1973. Date code near the clock on the top of the front of block will give more specific date.

As above definitely a HQ. Most likely a GTS coupe but could be from anything except Statesman, Statesman Deville or cab-chassis..

Similar timeframe to the 308 above. Any V8 HQ model except Deville (or GTS350).

Sorry I cant tell you that one Sandaro. Im going by some old rego papers I found in a ute I have just bought and wondering if it was the correct engine. The good news is that it has been changed by the guy I just bought it off in the last few years so I will call him tomorrow to see what he did with it! Thanks for your help.

Yes, around January '75, possibly Feb-Mar if the engine was at the back of the storage or got dropped or damaged in some way.
