    No. It is a 253 trimatic to start with, all Overlanders were 308 TH400. Also has a 10-bolt diff, Overlanders were Dana60.

    Dont know what ball joints he replaced, maybe he meant cv joints?

    They've got ball joints in them alright. I had to replace them in mine. Also have lots of steering knuckles.

    The ball joints went in the tip along with the upper and lower control arms when they did the conversion was my point.

    I assumed they had mixed ball joints up with CV joints.

    Dana44 front front axles have balljoints as part of the assembly. It is how the steering knuckle works. Axles seal on the diff housing and pivot joints are basically exposed universal joints. Ball joints are on the end of the diff housing and the knuckle pivots on the balljoints. Very reliable and repairable setup, unlike the Japanese style with the big ball on the end and CV joints.
