    Overlander Sandman photo's

The Arthur Haywood Overlanders were mostly built using Sandman Vans and Utes. Here are a few pics from some 1970's 4wd magazines I have and some pics of Overlanders that have been listed on Ebay.

OFF ROAD magazine 1977.... The first Overlander... a HJ Kingswood Sandman ute.

OVERLANDER magazine 1977.... HX Sandman panelvan

    Ebay 2007..... HX Sandman ute

Ebay 2008... HZ Sandman panelvan in Persian Sand metallic.... an unusual colour for a Overlander.

i purchased the yellow ute from ebay and had it shipped from Tazzy to Perth where it sits awaitng resto. my son is claiming it as his, so i suppose he will have to pitch in to resto her. there is a big write up in AMC 32 and in 33 under muscle mail where Byron has his 1 tonner and mentions mine(number 11), also a picture of overlander stato. a good read even if your not into overlanders

I sold mine for about $10k. It was an ultra blue L31 M41 3.36:1 BO6 tonner. Still had the original engine with it.

Arthur Haywood set up a Company I think it was called "Vehicle Engineering and Modifications Pty Ltd". It was a setup like HDT, where new cars were converted and sold still retaining their new car warranty. Arthur provided spare axles with each car, and kept the unique spares in stick. He still had some of it when I spoke to him around 2006. The business basically died overnight when WB was released, so he then converted customers car's and the odd new WB commercial.
