Tidy HJ van, probably a BO6

This is a pretty nice van if you want one but don't want to pay for a Sandman. Hopefully it is as clean as it looks.

Probably an early BO6 as well. Only the second non-Sandman 1904 Casino blue ute/van I've recorded and the first Holden non-Sandman in 1904 I've recorded.

And top spec driveline to boot - L31 M41, but only has a 253 and 4spd at the moment.

    $15k in Melbourne, no bids

    Can't be a BO6 as it's a 3 seat compliance.
    BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman

I thought that they only came in a 2 seat configuration, with column auto & GTS dash etc

I'd only ever seen them that way, but all documentation states BO6 is only:

    Premier nose.
    Premier door trims and armrests.
    Complete front floor mat.
55A alternator (not with C60 A/C as it got a bigger alternator anyway).
Utility bumperettes (for cab chassis only to be fitted to Ambulance body).
Belmont hubcaps (HJ-HX), Chrome hubcaps HZ.
Windshield placed into position but not fixed.

I think GMH probably only made them for stock vehicles as column auto, buckets and U17 instruments, however anyone could order one and if you simply chose BO6 on say a HJ cab chassis in December 1974 you'd have got a 173, 3spd, drum brake tonner with a Premier nose and door trims / armrests. Dr Terry has a HZ tonner BO6, it is L31 M41 column auto with U17 instruments and bench seat. My Overlander was the same except buckets. I had a white HZ tonner for a while that was 4.2L, column auto, U17, buckets and A/C. Friends had a HZ tonner in 4.2L, M20.

I know of at least 3 more HZ B06 One-Tonners, similar to mine, all purchased in late 77 from the same dealer in Sydney. They are all L31/M41, with U17 instruments & a bench seat with fold-down centre armrest & Premier door trims.

Mine is Flamenco Red, 2 other were Palais ?? White & one was Jasmine Yellow.

My real estate agency (well the one I have used most recently) saw my Overlander and recognised it as an Ambulance pack. He was a surfie-vanner in the 70's and bought a HZ Ambulance pack van, I think he said V8 manual. He bought it as Sandmans were hard to get, expensive to insure and the Ambulances were ex stock so a deal could be had.
My bricklayer bought a HZ tonner Ambulance too, 4.2L 4spd with U17 instruments, he knew exactly what it was as well. It seems Ambulance packs were well known of in the 70's but the world moved on and people forgot about them.
I've only ever seen 1 x HJ Ambulance pack though, but at the time didn't realise what it was. It was a white tonner, wrecked out in a wrecking yard, tagged as L31 M41. I can't recall a HX Ambulance in my memory but lots of HZ's - I guess the HZ's stood out as they had RTS badges on the guards and I just assumed the HJ and HX's had been later fitted with Premier noses but years later figured out what they were.

AFAIK, HJ B06s weren't introduced until Aug 75, which means that they were available for less than half of the HJ model run.
