Hey guy just new to the world of cars and have a 1977 Hx ute , I need to loosen the handbrake cable but can't get the hub caps of without damaging them is there a nack to it ? All help will be appreciated

Pry them off with the flat end of the wheel brace or a large flat screw driver. You slip it under the edge of the cap. Then hit the the lever towards the tyre.
Holden supplied the correct tool for removing the hub caps in the tools set or at one end of the wheel brace.
