    I reckon that has been a second fuel tank. You can fit the standard tank on the left side and plumb it into the original tank to fill it. I sold a tank to a bloke in town. He had done it too a couple of Utes.

    Sounds right. extend the tube to the bottom and use an electric pump to transfer it to the main tank.

    Yes it is the hose that goes up to the filler neck, which is why I question how it can vent when it would be submerged for at least 3/4 of a tank of fuel,have tried to google it,but just can't find any info on this at all.

    Yep, that's your answer for sure. Time for a different tank....
    Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
