HK Rocket Red - HQ-Z Engine colour

Hi, I believe from HK-HZ all Holden 6 & V8s were painted 'HK Rocket Red'.

I'm am going to paint these HQ original rocker covers that came off an unmolested HQ 253 Station wagon. Unfortunately my poor HQ has had girly Torana V8 ones installed and the oil filler is on the passenger side. What passenger checks and fills up the oil.. sheesh.

Here is an example of the paint colour for Rocket red sold by Supercheap.

Does anyone know of a brand which is a better match or the whole lot is going to be slightly redder than it should of been.

Not quite, HK-HG 186S engines and HK-HQ 307, 327 and 350 engines (except for the last of HQ 350 engines) were all painted the same red as X2 and 186S HD-HR engines. The rest of HK-HZ are the later red.

What do you think my rocker covers are then... complete with factory runs? Not Chevy orange? :-)

The rocker covers look original to me, the painting is rough as guts and often misses in places if something is in the way like the flex plate like in the attached photos - the other side of the flex plate is half covered in paint yet the back of the sump missis out. All the overspray on the manifold and around the back of the engine is original, and you can see where the heads were repainted in another colour when the head gaskets were changed.
