engine bay colour on a hj sandman

Does anyone know if there is a colour code for the engine bay on a hj sandman,i know its black but is it a unique to holden black, any help would be appreciated

GMH Black, Black tinter or a couple of other names. I've got the Dulon colour code book in the shed if you really need the code or mixing details, but it's an easy one for any paint shop.

Or did it end up being clear over satin to make the engine bay 'prettier'?

No clear on it. I also thought there was mention that they often used a slush of left over paint for places like engine bays and boots.

A lot of the plastic items (such as the fan shroud) had clear applied over them to flash them up a bit. Don't think they put it over the already painted stuff.

Slush or slops black, and the whole lot (engine included) covered with vlear which came off in no time.

Don't go looking for vlear in a paint shop. It's clear
