Rough! Why not just cut the bracket off with the grinder? That's how I stuck the bench back in my WB after my wife rolled her car. Had to convert it back to a three seater lol.

Back in the 80's James, young and impatient and not always the correct tools for the job..... A big hammer could be very persuasive...
