I think your van looks good wherever it's parked!

Nobody would look at anything else near it (unless it's from the 70's), where is this ute you talk about?......
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

You know, normally I'm highly opinionated and overly confident in what i have to say, but on this one I'm at 6's and 7's. Its great that Holden have done a tribute to the Sandman and on the flip side, my mid 40's brain cant quite process the wagon because its stuck in the 70's and 80's somewhat, but I think I know what's bothering me now. There's nothing distinctly 'fun' about these new cars, to mark them as different from the usual hotted up offerings. For me the Sandman was an escape from the burbs kind of car and promised 'fun' for all ages. The 2015 Sandman's look more appropriate as middle income bling, or suitable on the racetrack with the emphasis on performance.

So what does 2015 car fun mean for me? How about some of these-

    - Custom sun roof (extended version on the wagon like the first HQ had)
    - Custom embedded Engel fridge or at least refrigerated drink holders
    - Unique A/V system with 4g wifi hotspot including Android Auto and Apple Car Play
    - Sandman lighting around and inside the car (image projection)
    - A couple of fun and wacky colour choices in both paint and interior
    - A tailgate tent for the wagon
    - Custom weatherproof clip in lounge for the ute ( to sit in at the beach)
    - Optional add on BBQ for the ute tailgate
    - Custom bed for the wagon
    - Unique void area storage compartments in both ute and wagon
    - Custom clip on privacy screens for the wagon

And my personal favourite, a secret spirit bar trimmed with studded purple crushed velvet!!

    Thoughts?

Far out... Hell of a list .... But all those options would push the price past 65K!!!! Killer ideas though

Cheers Alien, also how about something that won't hit the budget too much... a Sandman app! Each owner gets privileged access to an app made just for the Sandman. What would it do? Maybe we could start with GPS tracking and location. The app could also give VIP read only access to the cars performance data or offer write options such as updating your vehicle comfort preferences or making mild CPU changes to engine, gearbox and suspension settings.....oh, now I'm back to big budget items.

But you have to admit it would be fun!

I like the way you are thinking and agree, there is no 'wow factor'.
I particularly like the idea of colour options (unique to the Sandman release), stereo upgrade and tail tent/ute canopy.

I was talking to Chris at the launch and there is a tent from the US that fits the ute.
It's all about the dollars. Great ideas and thoughts. Just one or four of those ideas would be great.

Tent for the ute? that's a great idea! It could flow off the back into a sort of lounge room or annex. Holden could also supply Sandman beach chairs and a card table! It would be like having a two story house with the bedroom upstairs. Ooh, I've got another one...factory fitted 240V AC inverter with separate battery storage and an outlet in the rear! Oooh, I've got more! Make the 240V outlet combine with a USB charging port like the airlines do! Perfect for camping!
