I've never raced it, I built it as an event car, just to have fun on a budget. It goes pretty hard though.... It pushes all the right buttons without costing an arm and a leg. It goes good, sounds great (it's veeeerrry loud), and always gets a crowd around it when I park it. It has some stone chips and obvious use marks, but nobody cares because they don't have anything like it.

    No mate, it's a genuine 4.2/4-speed SL/R.

Thanks for your positive comments Dave & HK, I know what it's worth, but am happy to let it go for the $20,000.00. Whoever buys it will want to spend a few bucks making it theirs, so I don't want to price myself out of getting a sale.

Its a good price Rob, I sorta miss my LH, but not too much, however, they are getting pretty rare now compared to ten years back, I reckon in another five years they may be very valuable to collectors, mine was worth about $1200 when I wrecked it in 1998 (too rusty to sell with good concience at that time) and there were heaps around. Had I kept it and even not touched it I reckon It would easy fetch 4k plus these days. It wasnt an SLR btw, it was a mock up, (LH with a 186s, sports dash, console etc and SLR stripes yellow and black) Looked great, but if you looked closer the rust was slowly being cut out, but beyond my ability at the time, great looking car though - earnt me the nickname SLRdave with mates, so that sorta stuck.
It just wasnt worth the money to restore in 1998 - gese it would be now!
Torana's are as they are on they road, I had 7 inch yokohamas on mine on Dragways, um, well yeah, thrills and spills at the slightest drop of rain, but I never pranged it, drove it as a daily drive for about 8 years.

I think you could up that price a bit Rob, they are pretty rare these days.
