    Yes it is factory. The car was ordered as follows;
    253, Trimatic, 2.78:1 LSD, aircon and power steer.

    Same as my old HJ Kingswood ute that got written off, it was the same driveline and options.

    Pretty sure you're going to find the 2.78 uninspiring behind a 253/trimatic. If it's just for weekend blasts around the city why not just go for a 3.55? You can't see the ratio and you're already none original on the carb so I don't know that you should worry about all matching.

    Does that mean we get to see progress photos soon? Your old blue van is almost at the front of the queue in my shed to get done.

    Yea thanks guys. I'm not worried about an original diff ratio I'm just after info/suggestions of the suitability of a 2.78 and other ratios with my other drive line components.
    Maybe the 3.08 or 3.55 will be an option.

    Do you suggest I go original axle and housing (without the eye hole thingo's) or go HZ type?

    I can't wait to get a regular job back in Adelaide and drop this FiFo work, not much has been done on the car at all because I have been too busy with work. :(

    The only difference with HZ is the sway bar mount plates.

    You don't have chassis mounts for the sway bar. I bet if you had them welded on someone would try and say it's a hz chasis if you ever tried to sell it.

    The eye hole things I think are the mounting holes on top of a sedan diff? They are blank on a commercial diff.

    The 3.08 I just put in mine van has made a heap of difference on the highway, but I notice it's a bit harder on take off. I'm running a 308,M21. But glad I did it.
