    Foot Rest.

Can some one tell me if HZ Sandman came with a footrest? Either as an option or standard? Or if it just didn't have one. If it did was it just HZ or when did it start. Any info would be cool.

    Cheers Dawso.

AFAIK no. The only footrest I've ever had is when I've converted a manual to auto and left the clutch pedal!

Cool I read a post here and a foot rest was mentioned. I wasn't sure. Cheers.

Holden did a genuine (dealer or owner fit) footrest at least during the mid 80's. I remember fitting them from about 85 onwards. Cannot remember if they were available before that, but they were quite simply a moulded plastic number about 4-5 inches long that was shaped like the left hand side of the drivers' footwell.

It was a Brock Commodore part for sure. They put them in the Magnum Statesmans. So if you went to HDT you could have put one in your HZ I suppose.

Yeah, the Commodore one was the 1st I remember. Certainly never saw one on anything from the 70's (in the 70's).

The footrest idea only came about after car manufacturers started leaving more room in the front footwells for frontal crash protection (and they didn't need to do that in big tough 70's Holdens).

In the '70's it was called the "Transmission Hump"!

The lack of room was why I always used a manual brake pedal in auto Holdens.
