Two Post Hoists

I want to buy a two post hoist, there's a lot to choose from though.
A mate of mine bought a second hand Molnar 3 tonne for around the $3500 mark, which is a good aussie built product.
I'm tossing up whether to go this way or buy a new 4 tonne imported brand, like a Tuff Lift, for around $3000.

Has anyone picked up a hoist lately that they are happy with??

I have a 3 Tonne Wild Boar installed.

I bought a used 2.5tonne 3phase Molnar. Was about $2500 installed. For the money I'd have the used Aussie made one every time over a new Asian one.

I don't think these hoists are going to wear out too quickly if used in a domestic situation like most of us have, so a good used Aussie built one would be my choice EVERY TIME too.

Stay away from 3 phase though, unless you already have it because it costs a fortune to get it hooked up.

You can get one converted to single phase for around $500 from memory, a guy local to me that deals in used hoists and services them does it. It isn't hard to make a 3phase motor run on single phase if you know what you are doing, but unless you can do it all yourself you are better off spending the $500 on a motor change.

I have found a local guy who buys second hand hoists, services them, installs them, single phase conversions etc. He doesn't have any in stock at the moment but I shouldn't have to wait too long.

Try for a Molnar if you can. I used mine today to change the exhaust on the Hilux. Makes life far easier!

There was an issue with the Molnar two posts regarding the ratchet mechanism. We had one here which I never got to install. May have only been an issue with some specific hoists no doubt.
