    Ball joint brands

    Hey folks,

Happy new year to all, hope santa was good and the kids/fam plied you with alcohol and left you alone for days at a time to get done as little or as much as you were looking to get done on your respective projects...

Years ago I wouldn't have thought twice about heading to Repco (etc) to grab a ball joint by itself if I needed one as availability and the known quality of the normal stocked brands was a given - with or without castleated nuts/split pins. These days (and having not worked in the industry now for well over 20 years) have heard horror stories of QC issues/failures with some types and brands of suspension componentry and are wanting to steer clear of the 'suspect' brands but have no idea which ones to trust.

Looking at doing some preventative maint and to boost the spares inventory a bit I was looking at chucking a set of ball joints/tie rod ends/idler arm/drag link etc into my 'ready to go spares inventory' and feel somewhat spoiled for choice - but unsure as to who/what to trust in so far as its origins. Which brands should I be 'steering' well clear of these days?

I see brands such as wasp, 555, those ones on ebay such as Kingswood Country (with the castlated nuts) etc... Hmmmm, dilema!

    Thoughts and input?

I went out and bought 4 x NOS front HQ-HJ control arms complete with rubbers and balljoints, decided it was the only way to be sure. I've had one aftermarket unit come apart, and a mate hit a tree at 70kph after having one fail.

Just picked up a set of Moog upper and lower ball joints for my HZ for $100 still in boxes
but buying from USA might be costly now because of the aussie dollar
