could it be absinths tags on a 'new' body? He had yellow HX 308 that he sold for tag value recently.

This is the last Elizabeth assembled HX van PSN allocated, and was completed on the last day of Elizabeth HX van production 12/9/77. It may not be the absolute last Elizabeth assembled HX van completed but it is the same day as it. There may also be later Elizabeth PSN('s) allocated to van bodies but if there was/were they were not assembled at Elizabeth, ie there could have been later bodies with Elizabeth body tags sent to Pagewood or Dandenong for assembly and at this time the PSN was the body number but for these it only appears as a body number as there was no such PSN for a vehicle assembled at Elizabeth. The latest of these I have is a van with body number 391131-A on J589501 completed on 29/8/77 but there are many later (I just don't have the Elizabeth body (also Elizabeth PSN) numbers for them) - the last is J590732 completed on 7/9/77.
Edit, out of interest the last Elizabeth HX commercial PSN is L392613 which was a 202 3spd Kingswood ute completed on 2/9/77.

Another L31 with 3.08 axle and notice the Vin tag has the date code H stamped down they weren't sure which month (and therefore which model year) it would be assembled
That downstamping was common near to the end Leroy, look at this one completed on the same day (12/9/77). They must have lost the VIN plate for it (these were prestamped with the PSN as an outsourced item, and the rest added during the assembly process). They had to use this PSN as it was already on the body tag.
