Byron.
Do you have a rough idea on what numbers for a Rochester for my HZ GTS should be. 308 t400 11/77 build adel.
17057294 appear on very late LX's and earlier HZ's so i'd say this is it. The very first few A9X's appear to have the HX's 17056280. The earliest 17057294 I've seen is 1787 which is I think June 27th which would be spot on for early HZ. A November HZ might be a bit later. I have recorded a 2217 which is August 9 and a 2367 which is August 24, but there will be others.
Thanks Byron. Im getting to the serious end of having all the NOS bits for my HZ GTS now. So will need to dig through my pile of carbs and see what I have so I can send it off to get fully rebuilt.
while we are on the subject. ive been looking for a inlet manifold. for my hz gts. part number in my HZ parts book is 9942656. But in about 5 years of looking I can not find a manifold with that number on it. I would take one in any condition!
You normally won't find part numbers on cast items, they have a casting number which is normally close. You want the flat sided manifold not the HX one with the barrels (unused water channels) down the edges.
there was a few different options for the HZ ones though... I just want to make sure I get the right one....
There was only the one regular HZ 308 manifold afaik. Some of the pre-production cars may have run HX engines but there was only the one HZ style manifold. The only other HZ's with a different manifold may have been the export cars that used HJ or even HQ style engines.
There is 3 in the parts book.
5.0L manual WITH evaporative and WITH exhaust emission control 9932891
5.0L Auto WITH evaporative and WITH exhaust emission control 9942656
5.0L engine WITH evaporative WITHOUT exhaust emission control 9929854
Mine being GTS sedan is L31 T400 WITH evaporative and WITH exhaust emission control
then I did a google search. and found this from years ago! You still got that manifold Byron lol?

The only difference between the first two is the blanking plate for the EGR valve on a manual. Same manifold. The 3rd one is a HJ manifold.
I'll correct what I said in that old post, I reckon yours being not all that early will be a HZ style. Can't find one on Ebay to show you what to look for!
