Why is that relevant? You don't see Lancaster bomber or tank engines called Spitfires simply because an engine was first used in a Spitfire. The LS1 wasn't a carryover current design when GM Powertrain was formed like the TH700R4 which changed to a 4L60, TH400 to a 3L80 or the old GenII Gm small block which also carried into GM Powertrain. It'd have been used in the Corvette first as it was GM's premium sports car. It almost always got the new goodies first.
I mention it Byron because it's fun to rev you up! Your a hair splitter and the general consensus it that they are in fact Chev engines (right or wrong).
It's just like you bang on about Statesman's not being a Holden etc. If you use a search engine you will find the Gen III LS engine and Chev as one in the same.
It matters not, I just find it funny you need to mention that YOU know it's not a Chev....
400hp with a simple tune, that makes 515 out of a stroked 253 even more amazing! Almost 2 hp/ cubic inch is unbelievable. You need to be at 700hp with the LS1 to be on par! I realise its possible but 2hp/cubic inch is good for any motor. It's only revving to 7500 and normally aspirated.

Fair enough, but remember when you are researching this stuff for publication (not that i'm researching LS engines) you have to work in facts not rumour or perceived facts, hence why I regularly use proper information as the manufacturer intended, not what Joe public incorrectly uses. If you werw writing a book on Colas you wouldn't call all Colas Coke? You might at the pub when you asked for a Scotch and Coke, when you really wanted a Scotch and Cola. The fact remains though that an LS1 is not a Chevrolet engine, it is a GM engine. Chevrolet ceased engine production way before the LS engines were first used in production cars. It was used in Chevrolet branded cars, Holden branded cars, Pontiac branded cars etc etc. Anyone can call an LS engine a Chev engine if they want, just as I could put it in a Monaro and call it a Holden or Pontiac engine, i'd be just as correct!
It is also very clear that a Statesman isn't a Holden, it was never intended to be, just another fact lost in people's perceptions.
I always thought a Statesman was a Holden. I must have missed the explaination of why it isn't. If I was to ask why it isn't a Holden I feel that would start the war again so I won't be doing that.
