    gts wheel centre caps

    hi all found out today ive got the wrong gts centre caps for my hq, long tail lion emblem aparantly hq had short tail lion emblem .does anyone know what year the long tail lion emblem came out,cheers andrew

    Not sure on date but I would leave it till you come across some at the right price, if they are pickin you for that ( unless you are going for a concourse look) I'd tell them to root their boot.

    For GTS centre caps, the "long tail" lion came out with the HJ.

    Interestingly, the HQ parts and service manuals have the long tail emblem on the cover and the brochure shows it on back page with the print date.

    I wonder why Holden didn't change to the new emblem with the totally new HQ model...?

    Check out this thread - Center cap - lion tail/no tail, introduced in 1973 so if your HQ is after then you are okay

    I agree with the info from Ozbox and HQ SS; all HQ = short tail.

    Rare Spares has both versions of the decals in stock. WC1003 has short tail and WC1004 has long tail.
    Part of the problem was GMH didn't always check the product closely from suppliers in those days and by using a number of suppliers for the same part caused some variances. Once Commodore started the parts were usually restricted to one supplier only as their production moved to SA.

    I've got some centre caps, been around the world a few times though.

    Ive got a really good set of original longtail caps so I think ill stick with those .still dismantling ute for resto so wheels are a long way off.but still having fun doing my homework on it learning something new about sandmans everyday.
