    Engine Mount Issues

    021120142074.jpg021120142075.jpg

I went to fit the engine and gear box in the van today and have an issue with the passenger's side mount lining up. See the photos attached. The block is out of a VN Commodore. After speaking to a mate who is a Monaro nut he reckons that I have used Commodore engine mount brackets(the brackets that bolt to the block). Is anyone able to explain the difference between a HQ-WB mount and a Commodore mount as I don't really want to purchase new mounts to find that the problem lays else where?

Going off that, they look like HQ-WB mounts.

The brackets look like the HQ-WB units. So the brackets are correct going on the above. Do the rubber engine mounts come as a driver's and passenger's? I am wondering if I have got two driver's side mounts?

I reckon V8 van's engine mounts pic would be real useful to heaps of people, nice work! Candidate for a sticky somewhere, maybe in 'resources and downloads'? Or copied to a section in Mechanical/Engine? It's neat enough for resources and downloads I think, anyone else agree?

I can't take credit for the pic, I stole it off the interwebz. I think it was originally posted on gmh-torana.

It is a handy pic though. I have it saved on my computer at home, had to go looking for it to post here.

From memory the mounts are identical for both sides. I'll have to check my Prem but I think you have a mount upside down, been a long tome since I pulled a 308 or 253 out or put one in though, so a 5+ year old memory!

The mount is upside down in the first pic, I just checked mine.
I have tried to upload a pic but am having issues with it.

Yep, you're right. I just stuck my head under the munro's bonnet.
The rubber mount looks upside down.
