WB Caprice Headlights...seriously out of control!

Well, the van is getting closer to a paint job, so i thought it was time to reconstruct the WB Caprice headlights. Holy shit, there must be a thousand parts to them. Anyone had any experience working on these beasts?

This is only the RH headlight, without indicator section, front glass or chrome surrounds!

I've always steered clear of them due to the replacement cost!

Yes, i'm hearing you on that front. Best i dont have any accidents after this effort. Anyway, they are going back together. Didn't end up too fiddly, it just looked complex when i pulled everything out of storage.

RHS unit all back together. I may have taken a short cut that i'm not entirely happy with. I painted the internal metal bracket holding the spotlight reflector, instead of having it zinc plated again. Now i feel a bit icky, like i ate too much candy at the fair. Anyway, completed unit shown here

A fiddly unit, but the end result will be, your van will look great.

Yep, looks good to me too. I'd love a set of them on my van.

Thanks guys, I think they have worked out ok, but next time i will get the zinc work done inside instead of painting. I finished the refurbs off by ordering new glass to body securing clips. Same as VB - VK Commodore.

Just to close this off, the headlights are all ready to go. The chrome trim surrounds were in mint order but the lower chrome bumpery trims have broken mounting tabs. Will be on the lookout for a a pair of good ones. I wonder if that will prove tricky

You might be lucky. You see them on eBay from time to time. They won't be cheap though.

Swap meets. I often see bits and pieces for them. I did have a NOS pair at one stage but I think I gave them away or swapped them.
