Rares have some thicker ones at the moment, but be reasonably quick.
No, I have only heard poor reports on them and people more than often then have to spend the money on repairs to fit an original tailgate after painting and fitting the cheep one. I only used the old one least with the original one you can sit on it with you wife,& it doesn't bend...

Do you think they will be as good as original gate HK?? do you know the price range??
No idea about fit but they are as thick as the originals. Not sure of price but ring Rares main office in VIC and ask what to order. I think they are all ute tailgates too.
I brought one(150 bucks)Transferred all the guts over and it is great,We sit/stand on it and it seems ok,A friend loads his motor bike on his and also no probs,.
Put it this way we were going to spend more than that to fix the tin worm in the other.Fit was great and had no probs fitting new rubber in to seal it.Top gate fits to it also.
This is my own personal experience with them and I would not hesitate in doing it again.
Cheers Kiwivan
It is not about the journey,It is the style we travel in!
i bought one from kingswood country the hinge holes didnt line up to fit the hinges l took back and got another one and l got some goodies for free then l got home cut the corners out and it had slight bow in it l then bought rare spares tailgate abit heavyer not much fits oka
After market just not as good as the origanal part no matter what you buy
The factory did a special production of the tailgates for Rare Spares in the thicker steel as per original. part 2816908. there are a few left and a further production is not in the near future.
Whats the go with the arm rests rares were making? I wonder why I gave my good samples to them now.
Think I will stick with my genuine tailgate even if it needs a few dents pulled out
James,
I have opened the file we had on these arm rests and you are correct in the fact that you supplied us some samples initially. However you failed to mention that you requested Cavan return your samples before we could use them for the patterns. These are noted as having being returned to you back in 2011. Unfortunately the return of those to you closed the note on supplying some stock when they were produced. it is our policy that when we are loaned product for use in remaking items to provide some of the new stock. Please send me your address details and I will send you a set of the new ones as originally arranged.
