hi all went to wreckers today to get a power steering pump for my hq ,fella told me a commodore vs pump is exactly the same ,does anyone know if this is correct as they visualy look the same ,cheers andrew.

I think the thread for the hose is a different seal and thread. You may just have to get a new HP hose made up. Dr Terry will know off the top of his head.
No that are not exactly the same they will work though depends if you want original the HQ through to HZ had no shoulders on the reservoir and the HQ has a nut on the pulley wheel HJ onwards a alley key bolt I think inside the hole in the pulley wheel I only just learnt this recently as I am restoring a HQ.
Yeah WB onwards is different shape and has metric threads. Not the same but you can make it work. Just go to a Hydraulic shop and they can make hoses.
ive just looked at photo i took and the pulley looks deeper with the allen key bolt,so no there not the same.some of the power steering pumps sold on ebay advertised as hq pumps look different one is like a bulbish shape and the other has a lip on the back of it,is there a difference between six and eight cylinder pumps.
The earlier pumps are rounded shape. The later ones look like a ham can.
No ham can is wb. You want the earlier roundish one.
This is my WB engine with WB power steering pump bolted on. Does that help?
