Well I picked up the new sender yesterday, they didn't have
it in stock(surprise-surprise) but had 3 in the bigger store a couple of suburbs away
It's amazing how well the gauge works now...
But gee hasn't the quality of the materials used changed....

You are so right, I bet it's now made to a "just" standard. Just good enough to sell. Just good enough for the job!

You would hope it won't start leaking. How bad are they?

It won't leak .the thread is a tapered fit.
But the quality of the can that holds the guts is a lot flimsier & doesn't even have
Vdo pressed into it,Along with a crappy QC sticker..

I just pulled a VDO one off my old International tipper. It started leaking out of the sender body. That was an old old VDO one. How flimsy is the body of the new one? That's where it will leak.

I get up to 110 psi when the motor is cold .
So if it's going to leak I'll find out soon enough..

Well just an update on the crappy sender,After about 600ks the thing
No longer works properly when the temperature has warmed up..
Spoke to repco rep yesterday and he is going to get another one under warranty for me..
    I'll see how we go...
