    The last (signed) Holden built

    ...sort of.

The body panels of the last Holden to be assembled has been taken around the country already and is at Elizabeth waiting for final assembly.

As a nice sentiment to a long production history in this country, the panels were sent around to other plants and has been signed by all employees including some retired employees.

There is no firm decision to where the car will finally be put on display.

Blocker, is this for real ?

To my knowledge there will be another Commodore facelift before the factory closure, which is still well over 2 years away.

If there is to be a facelift, which is not yet finalised, what panels are to be signed ?

It all sounds a bit premature.

Yes Terry it is real, I saw a couple of the panels already signed (rear quarter panels) I was advised by one of the engineers of their intentions and how it was sent around to the other plants for employees to add their autograph.

Panels were white with black markers used for the signatures.

I'm sure someone can explain this to me. When holden announced it was to stop manufacturing cars in Australia it was because it was not profitable anymore and they were losing X amount of $'s every year. So how do you say 'we are losing money but well keep going for another four years' ?? If a business is losing money don't you shut up shop immediately ? Does it mean by 2017 holden will be in more debt than it is now.? If not then why are they shutting down at all.?
Disclaimer: I am not an expert.

I was at a car show here in Emerald the other day, and The owner of the last Monaro, had it there along with some of his XY's. Also had the first of the "later"Monaro's there with it, which he owns as well. I took a heap of photo's will have to put some up soon. Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up with the last Holden if he get's the opportunity.

Is it a Cruze, Commodore, Ute or Statesman?

That guy that bought the last Monaro didn't buy the last one, he bought the last one entered into the schedule to be built (the last PSN). There are Monaros assembled and finished after it. Plus there were HSV coupes made afterwards (although obviously not Monaros).

Would be good to see your photo's Paddy. From memory the last monaro bought was for a charity auction. The monaro was painted in a special "one off" colour scheme, and had other certain feature's applied to it, so it is the "only" monaro built from the factory with all those goodies. I have only seen the same photo's of it as everyone else, would be good to see it in real life. The owner has certainly got an incredible collection of very desirable vehicles.

    Cheers.

The body was at the engine plant in Port Melbourne months ago. Its a commodore sedan - hope its a SV6 so it gets our engine. My signature is on the top middle of the drivers door just below the window.

I reckon all it means is that no body mods will be required for the facelift which has been the case for a very long time.
The updated facelift would have been designed years ago anyway.
