    Removing Seam sealer

Has anyone found an easy way of removing seam sealer residue?
I have scraped the majority off but need to remove the residue, it keeps clogging up the stripper disk.

Have you tried kero or turps? Maybe contact cleaner?

I used a heat gun and scraper... actually it ended up being a few scrapers. I couldn't find a liquid solution from the local auto supplier it would have been easier.

A wire wheel on your drill works well. Make sure you don't buy one that is to harsh.

I found this whilst searching. It is about applying a replacement but still of interest:

    Thanks everyone, for the help
I have tried petrol, and thinners the black stuff is tough!
My Dad is an old panel beater and he said as an apprentice they heated the tar and used a scrapper.
Did that like Blocker suggested but still have the residue.
Tried the wire wheel and it did like the 3m stripper disk just spread the goo around
    Might try contact cleaner.
Thanks again for the help I will keep everyone up to date if I find something that works well

Prepsol works. Unless someone sneaky has used a polyurethane sealer...

Try wd40. It gets sikaflex off your hands. Also if you look up the SDS for it you might find the what the active ingredient and then you can work out what solvent dissolves it.
