    Van Rat

Just looking through some books that we had back a few moons ago...found some really interesting vans from the early 80s .....found 3 vans called Shady Lady, jade , van rat, tru blue, alley cat, inervisions, chrome on blue, cosmic conspiracy, apache , real interesting names ..... im guessing a lot of these would have been sandmans ...hard to tell cause they had various things done like trans am , commodore fronts grafted on Huge flares sun roofs, spoilers on roofs , scoops on bonnets ...... AHHHHHHHHH the good old 70s 80s...... Wondering if anyone knows whats happened to these machines.

Alley Cat and Van Rat were 100% Sandmans. Alley Cat a 308 and Van Rat a 6Cyl and both are/were HJ's.
Funnily enough both are still around.

Yeah the 454 came out and was placed into another van called Tangerine Dream. Van Rat was sold on and ended up with a 308. Has a new owner as of a few weeks ago and he is talking 454 again.
But that's just talk. Once "if" it's done the talk will speak for itself. It does still have Vic rego VR-454. Of course Alley Cat went from 308 to Jaguar V12 which it still retains and should make it's long awaited return at the Van Nats in Bathurst in 2015 all things going to plan.

Yeah your thinking of John Evans. He did build and own Tangerine Dream but when the engine swap form Van Rat happened that was long after John had sold it on.
