    HQ Radiator 308

Need some advice as to correct radiator for 74 308 HQ Holden, have been told that HQ 253 and 308 came out with a 2 core radiator approximate width of tank 40mm and have also been told 50mm, advise I have also been given is that you could get the 3 core with the same tank width of 40mm (small core rows) , spoke to my local radiator guys and they are adamant that 3 cores were wider than 2 cores helpful guys but both probably under 35 years of age, the guy telling me that tank width is same for 2 or 3 cores has owned many V8 HQs, it has been suggested early HQ V8 had 2 core and later HQ series or those running air steer etc had 3 core, have also been told that HQ Chev motors had 4 or 5 core though this does not effect my situation, as I am aiming anally for a close to spot on restoration I need to get the small detail right, I have a 3 core rad with 60mm wide tank which I believe maybe HX HZ

HQ Chev is def 5 row. As far as I am aware Holden V8 is 2 row (thinner style), and Holden V8 heavy duty or with A/C or V8 cab-chassis are similar thickness as the 2 row but 3 rows. Later HQ parts catalogues show the 3 row like a HJ-HZ with the thicker tanks for V8 or 6cyl heavy duty or with A/C or with cab-chassis or something like that.
Your 60mm thick one will be a HJ-HZ A/C V8 or V8 heavy duty (or 6cyl heavy duty with A/C eg taxi if outlets opposite).

3 Row staggered core very thin looking radiator. It's likely for 308 with Air. But this is the minimum I would fit. Original look with extra core.

I don't think you can get those cores anymore.
