Do people actually pay these prices???

Hi guys, in my quest to find bits for the van, I've been constantly searching ebay and Gumtree, for HQ parts.
I'm amazed by the prices people are asking for stuff that's not particularly desirable(ie non GTS gear) it seems a bit high, don't get me wrong, I've got plenty of it, so if people are paying the bucks, I'm a bit richer than I thought!

Things like; Kingswood fascias, for $125 - Good used condition
HQ single vent crash pad $200 - cracked needs recovering
Front guards for around $100 - $200 each
LS dash and fascia $550 - G/c

Road tested spares in Campbelltown are selling inner guards for $88 and $110 each,a premier badge for $90, Bucket seats $660, prem headlight rim $135

Are people actually paying these prices, or are the sellers dreaming? Road tested spares must be selling the stuff to survive.

What do you guys recon???? .............. Am I behind the times on prices?

From what I have observed the place at Campbelltown are definitely at the high end for second hand parts and they don't always show the exact item your paying for on there ebay ads, another seller in Victoria I think his user name is higgs53 or similar is also a bit on the expensive side, there are still guys out there selling stuff at a reasonable price you just have to find them I found a guy through the magazine Just Parts who has access to a lot of wrecks but was very slow getting the parts to me , another thing I find buying parts of guys sight unseen is that peoples interpretation of good or excellent condition varies a great deal and often not on the same wave length as what I consider good or excellent have been caught a very times. My HQ Sandman I am restoring I have acquired quite a lot of NOS and though paying a bit more of a lot more I feel in the long run I am better off .

Someone must everyone on eBay has something rare I grab most bits I need from mates for other parts they need and with my work travelling all over properties am stockpiling a few cars so I don't need to mortgage the house if I hit a roo or someone hits me . All old wrecks I have arnt real good but when looking for the correct bolt or clip I can get one or rebuild it, picked up a hz ute needs pink slip and rego few dents it looks good hardly any rust under $400 you can't find a ute on fleabay that isn't a wreck or full of rust for under a grand!

Yeah Look I know the bargains are still out there to be had, look at the ute I just bought, fairly honest and clean, for $1500 but there's the stuff like that NOS upper tailgate Alien DNA posted for $1800. will he really get that for it?

In the end I was just wondering if I'd lost touch with how much this stuff sells for now?

Yep those prices look fairly close to what you will pay at Toowoomba Swap, I paid $125.00 for HQ door and then spent $300.00 fixing it :( with no paint on it yet.. stuff is getting pricey and harder to get. And Labour is not cheep. Lucky I got my dash pad for nothing?? I think you do have to look around for a while, and agree Fleabay is more expensive. & everything is always in Vic !!!

Paid $230 and $300 for two GTS guards. I then had them sandblasted another $120. I was happy to pay this.

Road tested spares, Higgs, holdent and a few others on eBay are asking top dollar for average parts and most of those parts have been on eBay for many months so no, people are not paying those prices.

the thing with eBay is if it doesn't sell it doesn't cost much for the listing so they play on the "leave it there long enough and some sucker will eventually buy it" ... It comes down to a part is worth what you are willing to pay for it. If you need a part and can't find many you will generally pay more than it's worth to get it..

I paid $250 for a nos upper tailgate skin and thought it was a bargain.... The guy who is selling the nos upper tailgate bought it for $850 so he is just profiteering.

Im constantly baffled at the price hq seats go for. With 400,000+ hqs built, where did all the seats go???

There is a dude on ebay chasing $650 for a set of ripped HZ seats been on there for a while i emailed him and offered him $400 never heard back from him they are still for sale lol

eBay is good! But only if you can't find what you want elsewhere.
And need it in a time frame. I would alway exhaust all avenues first then as a last
resort turn to eBay.
