ID plates don't mean much except you can't rule it out. The console and headlining are far better indicators. Are you sure it is GV4? Extremely rare option behind any 3.3L M20 HJ commercial. GV4 (3.36) wasn't even optional behind a 6cyl 4spd in a HJ passenger vehicle. The only place i'd expect to see it would be with L20 M40 driveline where GV4 was standard or possibly behind an M22 or M15 both which have a decent reverse gear.

Edit, I just went to record the car and I already have it but as an M40 trimatic, which explains the GV4 diff.

Congrats, nice Sandy... Cool colour combo to, yellow and black. 202 auto would have to be quite rare in a Sandman also. Nice that someone has already converted it to a v8 4sp for you....

Thanks...it's been a dream a long time coming...s**t...50 already !! I totally forgot to ask what had happened to the original motor which was only swapped out within the last 4 years which is the time the previous owner had it...I've only had it for 3 days...but I'm that excited
She is still an auto mated to the 253...yet to evaluate everything
The dash lights are very dim and I haven't found an adjustment for it yet...just unfamiliar with her
will post some more interior photos...think it's Dandenong build & think those B&W plates could be original vic reg...was going to put her on club reg as the reg expires in 1 month...will have to see if I can have the original plates put on hold before reg expires...then go on club reg??
    Cheers

More than rare. That car is the ONLY confirmed L20 M40 Sandman I have ever recorded. That is 1 in more than 1000!

Find out if previous owner kept the original driveline and keep it in your shed for safe keeping, do its ASAP before he turfs it or sells it.
