    253/308 rocker cover

    Guys

I'm looking for a rocker cover like the one pictured in the attached photo. The one is i'm looking for looks like the top one in the photo. The top one pictured is a HT-HQ pre ADR27 left hand example, bottom one is later HQ onwards and has the pressing to have the filler cap in different locations for different applications (Torana, Torana A/C etc).
The HT-HQ one in the picture has tabs on the manifold side for wiring. What i'm looking for looks identical (no pressings for filler just straight line across the top) but has no tabs on the manifold side.

If anyone has one, even if it has some small dents in it and wants to parts with it left me know.

I thought the top one was for HT V8 only and HG on had pressings? You could try Bellarine classic auto 0352488055 or Simon from hktg cult on 0409691119 both these guys specialise in HK-HG, Simon will only take calls from mobile phones. I bought a pair last year from eBay after looking for a long time so if you only want one and you find a pair I would be interested in the other one or if they are to expensive for you can you pass on the information to me please
    Good luck

As far as I am aware HT-HQ are the same for the LHS, and the pressing was introduced on the RHS front for HQ. Once ADR27 came into effect the HQ LHS changed. The extra pressings were needed for Torana as the Torana cap moved around depending upon whether the car was RHD or LHD or integrated A/C.

Two pair on eBay now but pricey. Sorry but my iPad won't let me copy the link. Type in HT rocker cover.

I saw them, but only need one. I picked up a standard bore 308N short motor (9/72 cast) on monday, and I have original HT-HG heads, timing cover, sump, dipstick, valley cover, quaddy, alternator bracket, air cleaner, dizzy and date correct exhaust manifolds. I also have a good correct coded oil pump, fan, water pump and believe I have the correct alternator here too. Even have original 1969 308 pistons if I wanted to go that far! This engine will hone up within standard bore specs. I have a fresh ground neo seal crank ready to go too, and new bearings to suit. Plus a new timing chain set. Only thing missing is the RH rocker cover. So just needs a hone, rods resized, new cam bearings and a gasket set. I'll rebuild the oil pump and buy a standard cam for it.

So I was going to build up an original Nasco replacement 308 engine, and then find someone with a HT-HG V8 GTS missing its original 308 and offer this to them. Yeah it'll be worth good $ but not doing it for that, doing it for fun and an easy way to clear out a heap of original bits at once.

I'll have a squiz through the pile next time I'm at the farm. My tonner has a 308N motor in it but not sure if it still has original rocker covers.

That is an early HT engine. Probably has HP on the side.
