Bell housing is a Dellow multifit. Hurst Indy shifter, By the way how do you get reverse? The throw between 1 to 4 is short as. The stick barely moves. But for the life of me I can't find reverse? Cheers

It looks like a Speco shifter mount.

It will be to the left, beside first, but I've heard it can be beside second, depending on the shifter, or if the reverse linkage is installed wrong!
The lock out will depend on the shifter, but usually is a lift up to engage.

I had the chance to buy an HG with a 350 and 4 speed back in the very early 80s, didn't get it because the gearbox was very noisy! Didn't know anything about M22 Rock crushers in those days, it was only $1600.00 cause the guy kept getting done for speeding.

Watch American Graffiti at the point where Harrison Ford drag races with the main characters in his rod. You can hear the M22 whining away on the movie.

When replacing my worn out old shifter I let my young bloke (21) put in
I said to him are you going to be right a to do it .do you want some tips, no no I'm right he said ,should have taken him about an hour .
Came back an hour later he still had not quite finished,"I just got to put the linkages on" he said 2 1/2 hours later and lots of swearing &curseing I got under to show him how ...

I had a look this arv. Lifted and pushed, stuffed if I know still can't seem to get reverse. Also HK the gear stick mount has no brand markings on it but on the left hand side is US pat numbers. Not sure who made the mount tho. Cheers.

If the gates on the shifter are not aligned properly you will not get reverse .
To aline up use a tight fitting Allan key and put in the hole with the linkages of the box.
Then put the arm on the box with out force them on .
Spin the arm to the linkage to adjust
Once all 3 are done remove the Allan key
To get reverse you just push hard to the left then forward
If then it doesn't go in spin one of the gearbox shafts a bit to line up the gears inside
