Thread: Full cowl replacement

    Full cowl replacement

So I've been prepping up to do a full cowl replacement for several weeks. I have a wb van but I'm fitting a hq premier front so intended on buying the full cowl from firewall to dash as it's the only rare spares product with the hq moulds that line up with the bonnet. I'm finally off work this week so got to work on removing my old one which was badly rusted and full of bog. I'm now fixing up the plenum under the cowl and thought I'd buy the full replacement so it's ready to go. I saw these on eBay a week ago and today there's none- I called rare spares to hear they have again withdrawn them as the windscreen retaining pins have pulled out on several occasions so they are again revisiting them.
So now I'm in a situation where I have no cowl, anyone have any advice for a plan b? I'd rather not be waiting the indefinite amount of time while they redesign the full cowl. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just made a call to another rare spares supplier who said they should be back in 4-5 weeks which isn't so bad

Buy a firewall cut off a HQ. That is the best way to do it. Just have to go to wreckers inland where they aren't rusty.

I have one, actually two, both need some slight repair before being put on a car. I'm using one for my ute but the other will be going spare. One needs a small hole in the windscreen channel repaired and the other needs a small repair in the corner where the guard has moved back in a frontal collision, this one has the complete dash attached and the other has the top of the dash attached. I'm in Warragul Victoria if thats any help. I'd be looking at about $100.00 whichever one I sold.
