Just got sent a pic of one of my companies machines getting craned into position in a Korean ship yard. Thought it made a cool pic to share.

Alright, I will ask. Whats in the box?
Part of a Bulk air cooler...? Or a generator...?
Paddy
Sandman...Just Drive It.!
Diesel or gas fired alternator or part thereof?
I have connected up some of those containers/generators, it would be cool to go to another country and do it.
Hi Guys, sorry i didn't think to offer what was in the box. Its a Diesel fired 1250kVA generator (typically set to 415V/50Hz in Australia). The engine will interest people here, its a Cummins KTA50G3 50Lt V16 with twin Holset HX80 turbo chargers and aftercooled. To produce 50Hz it runs at a constant 1500RPM fixed speed and generates ~1500BHP. One of our technicians is in Korea installing a number of these onto a Wheatstone FPSO being prepared to float down to the Browse Basin off WA. Cheers
Why do I hear the Thunderbirds theme in my head when I look at this photo?

I thought it was a diesel alternator, looked familiar!
Try this You Tube link and you can see how these units connect and work to provide power.

Spot the generator installed on this oil rig. Its the same as the unit first posted in this thread. (hint: look for a grey 20 foot sea container)
