Thanks Robbo and Innuendo. Well today was D Day, the floor is now cut out and its going in. The tyre sample is from an 18 inch rim 245/40 so its about the biggest i could possibly run and I'm relieved to find it fits with plenty of room all round. Thanks Innuendo and yes, totally agreed. Its an 83 commercial WB so no sacrilege here. Got another set of pics for the customisers out there. The original floor has commenced alterations this arvo, so that the boot looks factory fit. You can see the rear floor section undergoing its cut and shut treatment to maintain corrugation profiles around the boot edges.

Yes this would be my only concern?? how does it look from behind, following the vehicle, I guess it couldn't be any worse than a gas tank!!! Fair idea although & hidden out of site.
Hi guys, yes good question. It currently sits low like a drop tank and is visible from behind but this is temporary. The floor (when installed) will be raised up and sloped to follow the angle and contour of the rear quarters, so if you ran a straight edge anywhere across the body behind the rear wheels, you should just touch the bottom of the boot. This was intentional as i didn't want a drop tank look.

Well, we were at it again today. Still didn't have everything worked out on the boot, so we needed to spend some time standing around the rear tailgate staring at it. Suffice to say, the answers popped up and we are on the march again. Some pics to share from today's efforts-

Minor update, using the VE Commodore spare wheel tool kit/wheel restraint is a great idea but it has a drawback. As the wheel needs to lift out on an angle, the kit needs to slide backwards to accommodate this. We have a plan to create a run for the tool kit restraining bolt to slide in, thus enabling the wheel to be lifted in and out freely.
