No probs. Its intended to drop into the rear cargo floor where the original spare wheel went. The pics don't show the full design and i am recycling the floor from a HQ ute to get the lower floor finished. I will be cutting the existing van floor out behind the diff and then reinstalling it on top of the boot so its a hinged and gas strutted boot lid. I don't envisage any access issues as the van is intended to be non cargo carrying. Thoughts?

Hi mate, sorry I didn't see your reply till this morning. Thanks for taking the time to respond. The reason I asked is because I had ideas of doing the same to mine. But I can't see myself doing it to a Sandman. I personally think they are a fantastic idea and look good. Looks like your doing a good job, I think I'm going to get a sheet metal fake drop tank built for mine that either unclips or swings down, so I can achieve the same idea without cutting the floor. RAEME, i like your idea of a swing down. You might be able to couple it to the original wind down concept using a handle and perhaps fitted with an optional motorised system if you want.

A quick update from today, the panel shop have primer all over now. All panels are going back on so they can commence 'blocking' to see if all lines and panels can achieve good straightness. If all goes well then apparently we can avoid 'high filling?'. It will then get another primer applied which i'm told allows the base paint coat to stick.

maybe high fill and blocking will end up with sink backs or ripples that you can get when using putty

I like the idea of using the wind down mech. Hadn't even thought of that thanks. Looks good with the van. Sounds like the shop are doing a good job. Sounds like they are professionals.

Haha, yes it looks a bit big. My only defence is its currently too deep on purpose, so that the beater can cut it down to size and weld the corrugated floor into it. Its supposed to end up fairly level with the lower body line so hopefully it wont be seen like a drop tank normally is. We start cutting the floor tomorrow.
