Cheers for the supportive comments. I'll post a picture tomorrow of my upper tailgate. I'm interested to hear whether you think I've got enough 'meat on the bone' to get an effective seal around my window (I've cut some rust out).

Only have my phone to take pictures. I've been gently working away at some minor rust where the rubber seats itself on the upper tailgate opening. It has lost some uniformity its shape (drops away by millimetre or two hear and there). My query is whether this will affect the installation of the window & rubber? Should I leave it or try and build it back up?
Doesn't look too bad mate. But take some zoomed in photos. If you have the skills. Lead wipe the sections that are shallow from the buffed off rust.
MY HZ GTS im doing completely lead wiped. Its a great skill to learn! Very neat and lasts forever! You will find many of the factory joints are done this way.
