We are filling time at Sydney domestic terminal waiting to get home. They have a small museum in the QANTAS building. They have a cut away Merlin engine. Interesting to see how advanced engine design was in the 40's.
Single overhead cam shafts. 4 valves per cylinder. Desmodromic cam gears. Fuel injection. That's about all I could see that was obvious to a farmer.
Awesome engines that powered some very important planes. I think Howard Astill even used one or a similar V12 in one of his street machines.
