    HQ Factory Options

I think I already know the answers but you never know, could a HQ sandman (308) be order with dual exhaust, 14 x 7 & 14 x 8 gts rims, and what about the scuff plates could you get them upgraded to chrome, also was the M21 shifter chrome or black

Pretty sure 14x6 was the only option for GTS/Rallye rims back then.

    14x6" is factory.
Chrome scuffs were factory on Premier and Statesman.
    Shifter stick is chrome.

Bigger wheels and chrome scuff plates wouldn't put me off I'd find that totally acceptable.

Commercials were never available with dual exhaust. HQ Kingswood Sandman may have had chrome scuff plates (can't remember), as Sandman would have had whatever Kingswood had. Sandman 4spd shifter could be black as it is covered by a boot and console, again I can't 100% remember. A check of a later HQ parts catalogue will tell you.

Byron, I was sure the HQ 4spd's had a chrome shifter shaft with the ball gear knob without the shift pattern on it. HQ's also did not have the anti-vibration joint in the middle of the stick. The Belmonts had the alloy looking scuff plates but these seem to be hard to find. I think everyone, including tonner owners, found a chrome set to replace the origionals.

Spot on Mauser, the gear knob had no shift pattern and was similar compound and pattern to the GTS steering wheel.

They were actually Zinc passivated or Cadmium plated (yellow/gold or silver). Anodised metal is dye colouring electroplated into Aluminium.
But I agree the HQ stick is chrome.

I actually like the anti-vibration joint in the shaft... keeps the console gear boot up!. Someone told me a bit of trivia that the rubber in the vibration joint is the same part as an early Holden shackle rubber. I think is was a HR. Anyone know?
