HZ Sandman Van turned into a ute for sale

HZ Sandman for sale in Harden, NSW $5,000 on gumtree. I'm a big fan of sandman utes but its a shame when a genuine sandman van has been butchered...i know it was all the rage back in the 90's etc but still a pity.

What would people do with this one...convert body back to a van or find a donor van shell? No photo of tags but ad says 'tags are xx7 plated' which if its correct adds to the appeal although only a 253. Nice original colour and trim combo too:

Apologies for no photos, I can't seem to get them up on the iPad.

Just leave it as a ute. To me it is just as good as a replica Sandman ute, probably better if roof has been done properly.

I agree Byron. It's still a Sandman, and a cheap one at that. If I had a spare 5 grand I'd be on my way to Harden.

Isn't one of the members here? Harden is only so big and plenty of Sandman offering lately!

Is it really worth the effort to put a roof back on? Unlikely

Is it possible that a ute body was put on a panel van chassis. As he say's nothing about the body number. And tags can be changed easily. Just a thought

They mostly cut vans down as they were cheap as chips. That looks dodgy where the tonneau clips are bellow the rear window. Doesn't look to match up correctly.

i was onto that one months ago when it was for sale by an old fella - Frank in Kyneton? looks like its changed hands since it was on carsales at $5,500. its flamenco with buckskin i think and numbers match (not motor from memory) i thought the same re the roof. not worth putting one back on it and not worth the investment for a butcher special at least from my pov as i have to cough $1400 for trucking and not know what the condition is until it arrives. someone should grab it if not fussed on chop factor or are housing a fleet of rust free windowless van shells! good colour and it XX7 stamped. the old fella had no idea what he had
