    how not to fix your mates steering column

    i had a customer drive up from sydney this morn with his wb steering column that his mate was helping him fix......:eek:
    his mate was helping him put the top bearing in so it wouldnt come out again,he did achieve that but in the process he did this...:eek:
    ive seen columns from hq to wb that have been involved in serious accidents that havent collapsed this far...:confused:

    needless to say he needed another complete column..his one was not a fixer..

    EDIT...STOP PRESS..there may be more to this than meets the eye and the story so far....stay tuned...

    I honestly can not work it out. Hit it on the end to try to remove the bearing and shaft? Hit it too hard and the shaft came out and than the housing hit down.....?

    On another note. I done a mod to a steering column a while back. The bottom bearings for HQ-WB are crap. As most know. The VL steering column use a better needle roller bearing. I cut and shut and fitted the VL bearing and housing where the original HZ one was. It was a very good mod. Can take a pic if someone is interested.

    Has it been used to slide over another steering shaft at all? (the shaft inside seems to be much bigger).
    eg if someone wanted a HZ column in a HG.
    BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman

    Looks like he's tried to push it together with a bearing press or a forklift:lol: That is some good damage.
