May be a stupid question but are you certain it is the globe not the switch on the handbrake .
The switches are prone to dirt and corrosion.

Have also found the water leak.
Rust killed and used a seam sealer to seal it.Very small hole(pin sized) all the rest of the metal was good,Drain hose was slightly blocked so I suspect this was the course of it.Tested and all good.

Might be worth getting it all dry up where the rust hole was and putting some phosphoric acid based rust converter up in there (the one that makes your hands go blue-brown), not the plastic based one. Then getting something in there to seal it like a galmet paint or maybe some techtyl.

Sounds like the rust converter I used.
Also used Galv seal for the hole and around the seams.
Very happy with the result. Can pour as much water down the vent as I want and no water inside.Should last a life time now as the old girl is always under cover now unless touring.
